Tahaani Paterson is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at UNSW Cofa, Sydney, working predominately in oils on canvas.

For the artist the city acts as a seductive yet melancholic backdrop for the surreal juxtapositions, eerie lighting and strong emotive emphasis, shifting between reality and surreality. Rich colour and deep darks add to the narrative which is always inspired by the sensory world, but is imaginatively composed.

She is influenced by artists such as Louise Hearman and Nan Goldin, and the style of the Renaissance. Photography also plays an important part in her practice, with influences from Gregory Crewdson and sci fi films.
